School Council Policy
Purpose
Following Ministerial guidelines, the School Council will determine the educational philosophy of the school and oversee the maintenance and developmental of facilities, and be accountable for the financial management of the school.
Implementation
1. School Council will operate according to standing orders.
2. Duties of council concern the following:
2.1. Educational Policy
2.2. Facilities
2.3. Cleaning Services
2.4. Financial Management and Accountability
2.5. Communication, Community Awareness and Education
2.6. Other areas that may from time to time be included in the relevant Act.
3. Powers may relate to:
3.1. Employment
3.2. Use and Extension of facilities
3.3. Fund Raising
3.4. Formation and Operation of Sub-Committees
3.5. Other areas that may from time to time be included in the relevant Act.
4. Composition of Council will be 8 parents representatives, 5 DE&T representatives and 2 co-opted members.
5. Office Bearers will be President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.
6. An Annual Reporting Meeting will be held as per Regulation.
7. Council meetings will be held monthly except when they would coincide with school vacations.
8. Committees of School Council will be:
8.1. Facilities
8.2. Policy and Planning
8.3. Finance
8.4. Fete
8.5. Other committees as required for specific purposes/projects
