Purpose:

To provide a recycling program throughout the school to minimise waste production and therefore costs of garbage collection, and to promote a responsible attitude amongst the students towards recycling waste products.

Guidelines

·        Large recycling bins will be provided in conjunction with an appropriate collection company.

·        Classrooms will be equipped with bins for recyclable and non-recyclable waste, clearly labelled.

·        Bin monitors will empty bins into the larger recycling bins as directed by the classroom teachers.

·        Waste minimisation practices will be encouraged in the classroom.

·        As a minimum, paper waste will be recycled. Other recyclable items can be added to the program when appropriate.

·        Costs of the recycling program and associated cost of garbage disposal will be monitored on an annual basis to determine the viability of the program.
