Marketing Policy

Purpose :

 

It is a priority of the school to continually develop a positive awareness of and effectively promote Great Ryrie Primary School within the local and educational communities.

 

Guidelines :

 

Competition Code -     The School Council will comply with the conditions outlined in the National Competition Policy as it applies to State School dated 21 July 1996.

 

Communications

 

Effective communication needs to be maintained between the staff, parents, children and wider community in all areas of school life.  This will be accomplished through :

 

·       Weekly newsletter.

 

·       Parent Opinion Survey & Focus Groups.

 

·       Parent information evenings.

 

·       Parent training programs.

 

·       Newspaper articles.

 

·       Promotional material - brochures, flyers.

 

Celebration

 

Highlighting, valuing, and encouraging the abilities, talents and gifts of our school community through:

 

·       Sports events.

 

·       Arts events.

 

·       Acknowledgment of achievements (events, displays, shows, etc.)

           

            - Academic

            - Sport

            - Arts

            - Citizenship

 

·       Acknowledgment of excellence.

 

            - Academia

            - Sport

            - Arts

            - Citizenship

 

Community Use

 

School facilities are seen as a valuable resource for the wider community.  The school encourages community use of facilities and resources.

 

Surveys

 

An annual survey of parents will be conducted to determine their response to all aspects of school life.

 

Surveys of the wider community will be conducted as required to determine community perception of the school.

 

Sponsorship

 

·       The decision to accept financial assistance, equipment inducements or promotional items is discussed and ratified by School Council.

 

·       The items or funds are of educational, administrative, sporting or cultural benefit to the school and the conditions under which they are obtained does not breach the requirements of the Schools Of The Future Reference Guide.

 

·       In accepting such items or funds the integrity of the school or school council is not prejudiced or the method of operation of the school is not directed in a manner which is contrary to state guidelines or the wishes of  the school council, school or local community.  Where receipt of such items or funds is likely to cause controversy or divide the school and local community, an open meeting should be held for the purpose of allowing all members to air their views on the matter.

 

·       In accepting such items of funds in the course of normal business activities, the purchasing conventions laid down in the Schools Of The Future Reference Guide.

 

·       The conditions of offer of the items of funds are not such that acceptance requires schools or students being used for promotional activities or involving the display of promotional material which implies the school community is actively promoting that particular organisation or commercial enterprise. In lieu of active endorsement, the school will acknowledge the contribution or assistance from companies for school programs.

 

·       The use of students in activities which result in the receipt by schools of such items or funds does not involve them in controversial or dangerous activities which would be contrary to the direction laid down in the Schools Of The Future Reference Guide.

 

·       Receipt of such items or funds does not involve undue pressure being placed on parents, students or staff to specifically utilise the facilities, services or patronise a particular organisation or commercial enterprise.
