Great Ryrie PS Selection Processes – Website (2)

Hi, my name is Peter Henson and I am the PE teacher at GRPS. This year in sport I am looking to create a safe and fun environment where students have the confidence to try new things! Through creating such an environment we believe students will develop new skills/friendships and greater confidence.

We are all looking forward to 2015. There is going to be a busy start to the year with interschool sport and lots of district trials for students in Years 5&6. We will also have lots of students competing at District Swimming as well as a smaller number of selected students representing GRPS in cricket, rugby, tennis, soccer, footy, basketball and netball! A major event coming up at the end of Term 1 is the School Cross Country where students will be selected to go to District Cross Country. After achieving a top 2 finish in the last 4 years and winning it in one of those years, I am excited to see how we perform this year!

Our school athletics day will be in Term 2 for Grade 3/4 and 5/6 students! Students who achieve good results at the athletics day will be selected to represent GRPS at the District Athletics in Term 3! In the last two years GRPS has won the district athletics championships so I look forward to continued success in this area!

We will continue to invite 3 other schools to take part in our grade 3/4 sports round robin in term 4. There will also be an athletics day for students in Foundation and Grade 1/2 towards the end of the year. Throughout the year I am looking forward to entering students in various sports competitions such as Hoop Time, State Netball Championships and Victorian Badminton Championships! Looking forward to a great year!
